New Book Small Space Living Celebrates Living in Small Houses
SAN DIEGO—Christine Brun, syndicated columnist for 10 years, award-winning interior designer and expert on design for small spaces, announces the release of her second book Small Space Living.
As home sizes shrink, homeowners choose to remodel instead of move, families add a telecommuting office space, and baby boomers downsize, Brun shares her advice on design strategies and products that make small spaces work. Brun’s book Small Space Living addresses issues such as:
- Home office design
- Remodeling for dual use of space
- Creating a homework area
- Apartment living
- Adding a room over a garage
- Design for dorm rooms
- Aging in place remodeling options
- Design for combined households—granny flats, adult children, more
- Downsizing hints—how ‘empty nesters’ can keep and display treasures
- The best in cottage kits and small homes
Small Space Living displays 325 beautiful color photos that celebrate living in places smaller than 1,200 square feet. It covers the history of small homes, examines why small homes are popular, and identifies the people attracted to small living spaces. Brun shares her favorite ideas for flexible and built-in furnishings and provides solutions and products for each part of the house. Chapters are devoted to the living room, dining room, kitchen, bedroom, and bathroom. A carefully constructed directory lists cottages available as kits and products that fit in apartments, older homes and cottages including furniture, appliances, outdoor furnishings, and sliding doors. Packed with useful design ideas and creative solutions that coax the most from small living environments, this book is a must for all who seek practical ideas.
